Solar leasing allows homeowners to use energy from rented solar panels. Instead of making a down payment, homeowners typically agree to make monthly lease payments for several years. Solar leasing can be especially good for people who don’t qualify for solar loans and don’t plan to move soon. Predictable payments per contract. Price escalators could increase the monthly payments. Access to clean solar energy. Electric savings aren’t as large as they would be if you owned the panels. Easier, faster approval than solar loans. Home value won’t increase. May make it more challenging to sell your home. Not responsible for…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Discussing sensitive topics can be challenging for business owners. This is one of the top three or four reasons I receive initial calls for public relations assistance addressing a hot-button issue. The latest confusing trend is sustainability and how to talk about it openly. Surprisingly, people need clarification about how much to talk about it, why it’s important and when to bring it up. There’s even a new word for this fear: “greenhushing.” The most recent bit of pressure on companies regarding eco-messaging is the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) recent…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. In ancient Greece, philosophers like Plato and Aristotle were already grappling with the notion of work-life balance. The latter described amusement as a remedy for the “ills of work,” which he said was accompanied by “toil and strain.” Work, they acknowledged, was necessary for living a virtuous life — and paying for stuff — but it shouldn’t be the end, in and of itself. Nearly two-and-a-half millennia later, we still struggle to define what constitutes a good life and how work and productivity factor in. Our modern-day hustle culture, and many of…

Recently, on the way to take my son for a haircut, I suddenly realized I was out of cash—and the adorable 80-year-old barber who cuts our kids’ hair doesn’t accept credit cards. We were already running late, so I stopped at the ATM in the nearby pharmacy rather than head across town to our bank’s ATM. That momentary convenience cost me nearly $7. The out-of-network ATM charged me $3.50 and my bank took another three bucks. I’m hardly alone in paying for the privilege of accessing my own money. According to a 2023 Bankrate survey of checking fees, 27% of…

That’s up 24% from March 2023 (562,444 active listings). But on a regional level, the year-over-year shift in housing market inventory varies a lot. In Nevada, active listings are down 26% from where they were a year prior, as markets like Reno and Las Vegas tightened up following a brief home-price correction in the second half of 2022. Meanwhile, active listings are up 57% in Florida on a year-over-year basis, as Southwest Florida markets like Cape…

Hiring a general contractor is a crucial decision for any construction project. You need to find someone you can trust to oversee and manage the entire process, from start to finish.
